Someone ought to build a marketplace for human judgment (taste).<\/p>\n

As AI continues to drive down the cost of creation, the real bottleneck in future knowledge work won\u2019t be AI-inference tokens; it will be human-judgment tokens.<\/p>\n

The ability to discern quality, to exercise taste, to make the right call\u2014these will be the scarce resources that matter.<\/p>\n

I think this business will look like some combination of Fiverr\/Upwork and GLG, but I doubt it will be either of them.<\/p>\n

Where value accrues<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If the cost of creation approaches zero, much of the economic value may consolidate in two places:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

  1. Human creativity and judgment<\/strong> \u2013 These will command a significant premium due to their limited relative supply. While AI can churn out near-infinite work product, human judgment\u2014the ability to discern what is good, what is compelling, what is worth pursuing\u2014remains finite.<\/li>\n
  2. The orchestrator\/allocator<\/strong> \u2013 Likely an AI-augmented human whose job is to “press the button.” This person, effectively the seat of agency, directs AI and human talent toward valuable creative outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Why aren\u2019t these the same people?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Because the most creative people and the most productive people are not the same people.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    The archetypal artist<\/strong> and the archetypal producer<\/strong> serve different roles and have different strengths.<\/p>\n

    • The highest-taste “artists” can specialize and maximize economic value through their ability to exercise judgment\u2014deciding what is beautiful, novel, or important.<\/li>\n
    • The producers, meanwhile, construct and manage systems of humans + AI, ensuring outcomes are achieved and holding accountability. They own risk and are compensated accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Judgment marketplaces<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      You can imagine a platform where leaderboards, auction mechanisms, or flat-fee filtered rates emerge for hiring “artists” – high-judgement individuals in different fields, or generalists renowned for their creative taste.<\/span><\/div>\n

      Historically:<\/p>\n

      • Artists have often been handicapped by their laziness.<\/li>\n
      • Producers have often been handicapped by their lack of creativity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        But in the future, a combination of artists, producers, and AI<\/strong> could lead to an explosion in high-quality creation.<\/p>\n
